Gone Packin’

I’m headed out backpacking on Mt. Hood this weekend with my husband and a friend–our only trip of the year, which tells you how busy life has been.  We used to get out for three or four trips every summer, and usually a long trip (more than a weekend).  Ah, well.

Tonight we’ll be eating potato-sausage packets cooked in a fire, a yummy mix of potatoes, onion, garlic, olive oil, spices, topped off with a chicken sausage.  Not gourmet, but better than the dehydrated glop we’ll have tomorrow night.  I’m willing to pack extra weight for one decent meal, but not two!  And besides, I need the extra room in my pack for the wine . . .
